Safety. Inclusivity. Respect. Development.

The club provides the opportunity for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 18 years old, including those with additional needs, from Harpenden and the surrounding district to play football in a safe environment with a focus on each player’s enjoyment and development.

Membership

We welcome boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 18 (school years 2 to 13), of any ability level. Our Inclusive football section welcomes players aged 6 or above, including over 18’s.

Our youngest year group, the Under 7s, learn the core skills with a syllabus created and delivered by a professional football coach (with some help from our volunteer coaches). At U8s and above squads train once a week and in most cases have a weekly league fixture against another Hertfordshire club.

We are usually oversubscribed at each age group, including the entry level U7s. We operate a waiting list for each year group and add players from that where spaces become available. Priority for spaces is typically given in order of joining the waitlist, but we do also take into account the following; where a family lives and its proximity to Harpenden, do we need a volunteer and has the parent offered to help, is the player waiting attending our mid-week Player Development Centre (PDC) sessions.

The reason PDC attendance is useful is that we like to place players in squads that best match their ability level to maximise their chance of enjoyment, development and staying with us until 18+.

In our youngest year groups, we can have between 5-10 squads, playing across 4-8 different levels of football. A space may become available in any level of squad, but these opportunities can be irregular in timing and frequency.

The criteria used to offer places from those that attend the PDC include: enjoyment of the game, desire to improve, current ability level, physicality, technique, behaviour, work ethic, sportsmanship and or do we need a parent coach for the squad where there is a space.

If your son or daughter would like to play for Colts (and they were born before 01/09/2018), please add their details to the waitlist using the JOIN OUR WAITING LIST button below.

If they were born in 2018/19 and you would like to register them for our Under 7s age group starting in September 2025, please use this link:
