Harpenden Colts FC is one of the largest grassroots clubs in the country. We are proud to hold the Football Association 3-star Accreditation, the highest level of accreditation for a grassroots club. Our mission is to help young people in the Harpenden area reach their full potential and achieve physical and mental well-being through football.
Demonstrating our support for youth sport and its benefits in the community, we are launching a new community schools’ football programme – ‘Playground Ballers’. In an effort to improve girls’ participation in football Harpenden Colts offered eight schools the opportunity to participate in the Playground Ballers programme for Year 1 girls. Each school taking part in the programme received four free sessions of football coaching for Year 1 girls.
These sessions took place in the school grounds. 32 free sessions were delivered by our Head of Coaching – George Lappas – to over 200 year 1 girls. The year 1 girls were also invited to attend a Harpenden Colts ‘Playground Ballers’ Football Festival in Rothamsted Park. This event was also free for the school, and provided a wonderful opportunity for the girls to practice their skills, and play football with other Year 1 girls from neighbouring schools. These sessions have provided a pathway for some of the keenest players to join Harpenden Colts next season.
If your daughter (currently in year 1) would like to train with Harpenden Colts (Under 7s) from September please visit the membership section at harpendencolts.com to reserve a space. We have space for the first 50 girls.
