The club provides PDC courses which run on weeknights during term time.
The sessions are ‘game’ based, helping to build match-fitness and providing an opportunity to practise skills. They are fast paced with limited adult direction to encourage child-led decision-making and ownership.
The sessions aim to replicate ‘a kick-about in the park’ or ‘street football’ in a safe and social environment. They are designed to be different, and complementary, to regular squad training, providing players with an additional opportunity to play football during the week.
The PDC is open to players on the waiting list who are interested in joining Harpenden Colts, and provides an opportunity to play weekly football and get to know the Club. Waiting list players are invited to register and book in advance of existing Club members each term.
For existing members, the PDC is a chance to experience more game time and match practice via a second weekly session alongside players in different squads, year groups and from the waiting list. The PDC is different from the structured weekly squad training which is designed to meet the needs of each specific team as decided by the Coaches.
For existing members who want to gain coaching experience, the PDC provides our young coaches with a chance to gain valuable coaching experience and employability skills in a supportive environment, mentored by more experienced adult coaches.
Sessions take place on weeknights during term time. Days/timings for the sessions vary each term.
Waiting list players and existing members will automatically be invited to register/book each term. Those on the waiting list have an opportunity to book in advance of existing members.
Bookings can only be made on a termly basis and players must re-register/book each term. There is no priority given to those who attended the previous term.
