Changing of the guard in the Girls’ Section

Last season saw the departure of our longstanding head of Girls’ Section, Simon King and our appointment of a new Girls’ Section Lead, Emma Whiteford, and Girls’ Section Football Development Lead, Paul Wright. Simon took our girls’ section from a single squad to one or two teams in each age group over a period of 10 years. We are extremely grateful to him for his efforts and we wish him and his family the very best as they embark on an exciting new chapter of their lives in Yorkshire.

Emma and Paul have joined the Football Management Committee with big plans to build on this solid base, and turbo-charge the growth of the girls’ game – and it is fair to say they have hit the ground running. One of their first initiatives was to run football taster sessions at local primary schools which has instantly increased our U7 Girls intake from the usual number of 10-20 to over 40 for this season!

There are plenty more exciting initiatives in the pipeline which we look forward to sharing with you as the season progresses. For more information out the Girls’ Section at Harpenden Colts, click here.
